Gilbert Ledward was a sculptor and member of the Royal Academy. He is famous for his design for the 1953 coronation crown, which depicted the Queen upon horseback.
Gilbert Ledward died on the 21st June 1960, four years after he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
